Description
O. similis is a cosmopolitan species widespread in the World Ocean. According to Shuvalov (1980), in the tropical zones these copepods occur mostly in areas influenced by coldwater currents. In the Black Sea O. similis represents the coldwater copepod complex (Greze, 1971).
